About Dev Toolbox
Dev Toolbox is a small, independent collection of developer tools: formatters, converters and inspectors for the formats you work with every day — JSON, timestamps, Base64 and friends. It exists for one simple reason: the quick "paste it into a website" tools most of us use ask you to hand your data to a stranger's server, and that trade is unnecessary.
Local by design
Every tool on this site runs entirely in your browser. When you paste a JSON payload, a token or a configuration file into one of our tools, the processing happens on your own device, in this page. Nothing is uploaded, because there is no backend to upload to: this site is a set of static files, and the tools are JavaScript that ships with the page. You do not have to take our word for it — load any tool, switch off your network connection, and it will keep working.
Why free?
The tools cost almost nothing to run: static hosting and client-side code scale without servers to babysit. The site is supported by advertising, which is why you may see ads in clearly marked slots once they are enabled. Ads never appear inside a tool, never imitate tool buttons, and never change what a tool does.
How the site is built
Each tool page pairs the tool with a full written explanation of the underlying format — how it works, where it breaks, and how to fix the common mistakes — plus a set of longer guides. We would rather publish one tool with a real explanation than ten bare tools with none.
Who runs it
Dev Toolbox is maintained by an independent developer. Questions, corrections and tool requests are welcome — see the contact page.
